Wētā of Kahurangi National Park and their conservation

Come along to learn about the local wētā biodiversity and the threats faced by these unique and treasured species.

Kahurangi National Park is a biodiversity hotspot and is home to at least 9 species of wētā and 14 species of cave wētā - a level of diversity that is found nowhere else in New Zealand.


Some of these species are common, others are critically endangered.
