95bFM began life as a pirate student radio station on the Hauraki Gulf in 1969. This makes 95bFM the oldest of the bunch in the Student Radio Network, hence our apt nickname, The Originator. These days, we remain the largest independent broadcaster in Aotearoa. 95bFM has graduated from ‘just student radio' to the hub for Tāmaki Makaurau’s vibrant music, media, and creative scenes. We proudly champion independent voices from across the motū and broadcast 24/7, all days of the year, terrestrially and on online. Our programme is varied and eclectic, so we probably play a lot of stuff you love and some stuff you won't.
