INSTALLATION ARTISTS 2025-26

We are super excited to introduce our new and fabulous Installation Team! Check out this piece to learn more about the artists.

Harare mai Twisted Whānau,

We are super excited to introduce our new and fabulous Installation Team. A fine collective of talented multimedia artists who will be creating enticing and inclusive displays of Cobb-worthy vibes.

Our ‘Install Crew’ will aim to add to the interactive flare of our already bustling Twisted Frequency Art Team this year. Incorporating a diverse range of stimulus involving projections and materials to cater to many multisensory experiences within the valley. Many of these constructs are inspired to reflect and honour taiao (natural world), accompanied by light and decorative designs that encourage us to interact with Papatūānuku and celebrate all her beauty.

Introducing our Install Artists:
Fantasia AV

Fantasia AV is an offshoot of Fantasia Events, specializing in live analog visuals / VJing in Otautahi, Christchurch. For the last year, Jake and Bruno have been hosting events, as well as working with other promoters for visual installations, having built up a well respected brand in venues such as Flux and Sydenham Underpass. Primarily catering to the underground bass music scene. Although recently expanding out to the likes of punk/rock and hiphop. Their installations are primarily built around using CRT monitors and TVs, however also utilise some projections in certain projects. They tend to use a combination of older composite vision mixers (Edirol, Panasonic etc), alongside a few standalone media/GLSL shader players, and homebuilt passive switching gear. Usually taking a strong focus on crowd interactivity, with the use of cameras and various feedback techniques.

Tun

Tun’s artistic journey began with collaborations, travelling toward artistic and technical guidance in the Netherlands, and gaining experience with Peter Klashorst in his Phnom Penh studio. Travelling solo through Indonesia, he found his new mentors in the international artists, Antonius Kho, Pierre Guillaume and Theo Zantman. Back in the Netherlands, the Donker Collective embarked on their nightlife-art trajectory with their first forays into the club scene with their hedonist black-light (UV) parties, body painting and group action.

Ben Keimpe

Ben is a multifaceted artist, with a rich history of industrial design and aviation construction. However, he is seeking more passion-based and community inclusive projects, including his enticing creation of kinetic light sculptures and active involvement in several CHCH based events and collective societies. This year, Ben will be incorporating some animal representation into his enlightening mahi toi.

Nathan and Sophie

Nathan and Sophie are artists based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, joining forces to create Peace Tree — a performative olfactory installation that merges scent, clay, and ritual. The pair’s collaboration is rooted in a shared fascination with the relationship between clay and scent — materials that both absorb, hold, and transform over time. Clay, as Hathaway uses it, becomes a vessel not only for form but for aroma; and scent, in Taare’s hands, becomes a living memory embedded in the material. Together they are creating a large-scale installation of scented clay amulets, each a one-of-a-kind object infused with a unique blend of natural and bio-derived aroma materials — from earthy resins to leathery, woody, and marine notes like horses, te awa, ngāhere, mushrooms, brown sugar, and leather. The amulets will be strung and suspended on a sculptural framework in an unexpected location within the festival grounds — forming a living, breathing “tree” of scent, sound, and movement.
