Modern Metal/Nucore three piece SPLINTER is a high-octane presence from Ōtepoti. Striving to bring a new sound to Aotearoa, SPLINTER harnesses electronic and symphonic elements to create a unique soundscape that magnifies a familiar instrumentation of guitar, drums and vocals. SPLINTER draws inspiration from 2000s Nu-metal, Modern Hardcore, and Deathcore, while habitually borrowing conventions usually seen outside the scope of heavy music genres. SPLINTER converges harsh and clean to build sonic polarities, offering a diverse listening experience that is compelling to fans of heavy music yet accessible to those new to heavy genres. Despite being new to the scene, SPLINTER had a strong debut as the guest band for Rockquest 2023, later featuring at Dankfest 2023 and the Camp A Low Hum music festival in 2024.
