Known for his raw storytelling and evocative poetics, Michael Llewellyn is a dynamic songwriter and performer based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa. His debut album Oh My Darling (2021) has reached over 126,000 streams worldwide, supported by a national tour funded by Creative NZ. Since then, he has become a fixture of the New Zealand indie scene, sharing stages with Marlon Williams, The Veils, and Fazerdaze, and headlined at the (West End Wiggle 2023). His sophomore record I’m Gorgeous explores grief, lust, power, longing, and hope, and has already racked up 18,000 streams since its release. Singles from the record have been playlist­ed across the NZ Student Radio Network, charting on the Student Radio and Alt Radioscope charts (peaking at #4), alongside spins on RNZ, 95bFM, and Radio Active. The album has been featured in Rolling Stone AU/NZ, The Listener, and Undertheradar. In 2025, Llewellyn and his band headlined The Performance Arcade in Wellington, and on his album release tour with French For Rabbits, performed to packed out rooms across New Zealand. Looking ahead, Llewellyn is working on his third record ‘Strange Horses’ alongside an accompanying short film, and is preparing for its release, alongside his first European tour in 2026.
