"Wellington's best kept secret"- Art Murmurs Wellington-based comedian and MC Joana Joy has rapidly established herself as a formidable presence in Antipodean comedy. With an eclectic journey from commercial dancer to cabaret performer to psychology student to stand-up comedian, she brings physical comedy, easy charm and witty authenticity to every performance. With over 12 years as a professional performer, JJ has performed at large scale events such as WOMAD (NZ), Twisted Frequency Festival 2024/25, Woodford Folk Festival (AU), Melbourne International Comedy Festival and on lineups alongside Ben Hurley, Joe Daymond, Justine Smith, Angella Dravid, David Correos. Offstage she is a major geek for the human experience; studying Creative Arts Therapy, is a hopeless romantic, dances in the supermarket, loves ocean swim/surfs, reading and family.
