Over the the summer of 2023/24, a collaboration began between Jude Savage of Bleeding Star, and River Hann-Ellen from Debt Club. What started as a mutual admiration for each other’s songwriting evolved into a joint songwriting effort that would go on to form the basis for a new project, Dropper. Jude's emotionally charged songwriting, often compared to Bob Mould's work with Hüsker Dü or Lou Barlow's early Sebadoh, was complemented by River's knack for intricate arrangements. The duo's songwriting partnership resulted in a collection of songs that shaped what would become the band's core sound. With a set of songs now ready for an audience, Jude set about forming Dropper into a fully realised band. With Walter Martin on drums, Carlos Bellamy on guitar and Toby Gracewood-Easther on bass, the line-up was complete. Since forming, Dropper has supported a number of notable acts, including There's A Tuesday, Shame (UK), Office Dog, Twine (AUS), Lemonheads (USA), and Wunderhorse (UK). Reviewers have described them as having a "high energy stage performance punctuated by flawless musicianship and songwriting skills that seem beyond their years…Honestly, it’s hard to overstate how impressed I was with Dropper and am eagerly awaiting my next chance to see them live.” The band have released two singles and is looking forward to the release of the full-length album “Be a Little Kinder” in November 2025.
