DJ Decay is the UK hardcore and break-beat inspired alias of Ōtautahi-based Keepsakes producer James Barrett. In the studio this project focuses on re-imagining these 90s genre staples in the context of our paranoid modern age via granular sampling and the limitless possibilities of modern synthesis techniques - which has led to releases on the likes of UK label E-Beamz and the 03’s Echo Train Records. In the booth DJ Decay draws the lines between break-beats, bass music, electro, and techno old and new - presenting a sound equally centred on dance-floor euphoria and raving energy for the new generation of Aotearoa dancers.
