Born from the boondocks of the bush doof, Chunga was formed in Motueka, Aotearoa (New Zealand). With dark atmospheres and psychedelic undertones, Chunga’s sound is one beautiful clusterfunk of bass debauchery—sonic expressions varying from glitched-out wonky future beats to gritty “creature mode” dubstep, mixed with aspects of melodic techno and ambient soundscape music. Built for underground dancefloors and immersive festival environments, Chunga crafts sets that balance heavy low-end pressure with cinematic tension, psychedelic storytelling, and deep atmospheric textures. Each performance moves fluidly between genres and tempos, creating a dynamic journey designed to captivate listeners from start to finish. Having performed at respected festivals across the Australasian underground circuit, including Twisted Frequency, Tanglewood Festival, Rolling Hertz, Archaic Gathering & Synchronicity. Chunga continues to establish a reputation for high-energy, forward-thinking bass music sets that push beyond genre convention. He has also shared stages and performed support for internationally respected artists including K-lab, ASHEZ, Paige Julia, TRUTH, K+Lab, The Upbeats, Halogenix, Alix Perez, Kodiak Kid, Mystic State, Samurai Breaks, and Serial Killaz.
