Basalt is the Alias of Ōtautahi Producer, DJ and Radio Host Axl Radzyner. Known for still using turntables and having had music released on pioneering local label “The Big Fresh Collective” Basalt keeps the underground spirit alive. From performing at dimly lit warehouse raves and sound system party’s to the stages of major festivals like Twisted Frequency and Electric Avenue, he is more than qualified to take charge of the ones and twos. As well as hosting a prime time weekly slot on RDU, Basalt has appeared for guest mixes on well known shows like Dubbers Anonymous and Insession Radio. He also holds a weekly slot on Rotten Radio, a pirate radio station situated in his hometown of Lyttelton. Taking heavy influence from the UK Bass and Footwork scenes of the early 2010’s, expect a set of left-field bass, unreleased originals and unusual time signatures.
