Kick off the DOJO club night with a deep-dive into the queer roots of dance music! The crews from Queer Horizons and Tender Buttons will explore the ways in which queer culture has shaped the electronic music scene, from the DIY anarchists of the underground to the afrofuturistic philosophies of techno, the influence of ballroom and drag on rave culture, and how the intersection of queerness, race and class has brought us the sounds that we all find liberation in today. This will be a fun and informal kōrero, functioning as an opportunity to learn, a space to be creative, and a place to make new queer friends at Twisted.
