Uninhibited by the constraints of genre or style, Vanessa Worm’s music sits somewhere between the attitude and snarl of New York post-punk, the D.I.Y innovation of the South Island’s 80s Flying Nun scene, and the demanding dancefloor power of house, techno and jungle. Since she released her debut EP through Glasgow’s prestigious Optimo Music label in 2019, Vanessa has appeared at festivals and nightclubs across New Zealand and Australia. Equal parts vocalist, producer and performer, Vanessa has shocked and awed audiences at Meredith Music Festival, Beacon Festival’s Boiler Room stage and 121 Festival, reaching further through the stargate everytime she steps on stage. In the wake of the recent release of her second album, Mosaics, Vanessa has been performing around New Zealand with a live band. Whether she’s DJing, playing solo, or working with musicians, every performance is a visceral window into the singular creative visions of an artist who has captured the imaginations of tastemakers like the Public Possession DJs, Animals Dancing, JD Twitch, Tornado Wallace, and Tim Sweeney.
