Hailing from the great forest of Tiriwa & raised by the black sands of Te Henga, Te Manu seeks to decolonise the dance & bring the music of Te Pō into Te Ao Mārama. With a love for soundsystem music & taonga pūoro, they journey through the sounds of dub, dubstep & bass music to empower rhythms & basslines that unite & whakawhanaunga. Since releasing their debut EP, Te Manu has blended live instruments with soundsytem-oriented deep dub & bass. Following the release of 'Te Hā a Hine Raukatauri' on Teeth & Tail, & after receiving encouragement from Mokotron, Te Manu has incorporated taonga pūoro & mōteatea into their productions & live sets. With a growing catalogue of unreleased tracks & an upcoming release on The Moth Club, Te Manu is set to weave together Te Ao Tawhito me Te Ao Hurihuri.
