Raumati Puhia is a contemporary artist of Māori & Pākehā descent, who goes under the artist name of Raukikini (Meaning 'Spicy' in Te Reo Māori). Based right here in Te Whanganui-a-tara, they whakapapa to Tainui, Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāti Raukawa ki te tonga. Embracing the reclamation of their culture, they infuse their identity as a Queer Takatāpui Irish-Māori tangata into their work. Illuminating on principles such as the power of resilience, queerness & indigenization. Retelling our traditional stories in a modern context.
