KnowYourStuffNZ are the truly legendary folks we want to give a massive Shout Out to, returning to this year's festival. They do absolutely crucial work and we are so grateful for their huge contribution looking after festival/gig communities.

"KnowYourStuffNZ started back in 2015. Wendy and a few others heard that people were selling high-risk substances pretending to be things like MDMA and LSD, which have a lower risk attached to them. 

After waiting for the authorities to do…well, ANYTHING except blow a bunch of wind about how people shouldn’t take drugs if they don’t want to go to hospital/die, Wendy and friends got hōhā and decided to do it themselves. 

7 years later, we have a nationwide drug checking and harm reduction service.

Our kaupapa: 

1. We empower people to make well-informed choices about what they put in their bodies 
2. People shouldn’t be hospitalised or die because they’ve been lied to about their substances

We have so many favourite memories, but what we're most proud of is getting the law changed so events can have drug checking on site and not worry about losing their licences. 

We’re a peer-led organisation. A lot of our volunteers are regular festival goers and have been to Twisted as punters at least once before. Twisted has been on board since long before the Drug and Substance Checking Act 2021, when event organisers risked committing a criminal offence just for having drug checking at their events. We’re stoked to continue to support an event that puts so much effort into taking care of its people. 

We’ve got our drug checking clinic dates for December up on our website. There’s a few happening around the country in the lead up to NYE so make sure to check the Events Page and see when the clinics are in your neck of the woods.
