Downbeat / Experimental / Dubstep, The Sensonauts (NZ)
SorchaLula fell in love with dance music after getting unexpectedly stuck in China some years ago. Never happier than in the midst of a dancefloor, she amps on tracks that make the body move, or the soul transcend. She typically channels hefty basslines, silky melodies and/or irresistibly dancey beats.
She plays from downtempo to house, across 140 bass/dubstep, and up to halftime, jungle, liquid and drum n bass, often crafting multi-genre sets. 2021 has seen festival sets at Earth Beat Music & Arts Festival, CubaDupa Festival, Twisted Frequency Festival and Beervana, plus other gigs and dance parties around Aotearoa.
Katie also runs The Sensonauts, creating experiences and explorations based on music, dance, the senses and more. These range from Bass Massage experiences, Wellington on a Plate shows, Performance Arcade interventions, running music stages/zones, through to intentional parties. With a passion to create more diversity in music, she organises inclusive workshops covering DJing, production, Ableton, music genres, and a new music production course for women/femmes in 2021.
Katie can offer multiple skills or experiences for festivals, including the below, or create a bespoke offering for you. These are great additions to a festival experience, especially if you’re already booking Katie or the other musicians.
- DJ workshop or Understanding Genres workshop with musician Paige Julia
- Sensory Bass experience with either musician Òran Mór or Ed Zuccollo
- Programming (ensuring diverse lineups) / stage managing / logistics
