Experimental, Samurai Records (NZ)
Fis aka FIS (Forever in Search) surfaced in 2012 with experimental club releases such as the Duckdive EP on HORO and The Commons EP on Exit Records. Since then he entered more abstract territory, seeking freeform and meditative sculpture-like music intended for powerful soundsystems. His work has drawn support from leading figures like Aphex Twin and Iris Van Herpen. In recent years has featured at world leading avant garde festivals, including four main stage appearances at Berlin Atonal. In the live setting Fis improvises with acoustic-electronic hybrid instruments.
Fis' label Saplings Records pilots a biodigital release format where sales of digital music finance ecosystem restoration. Since its inception in 2017 Saplings has funded the planting of over 30,000 mangrove trees with reforestation non-profit The Eden Projects.
