Buzzlightyeah AKA Zak Johnston is a long time supporter, friend and performer of Twisted Frequency. Having spent many years in the underground electronic music scene both in NZ and abroad he has developed an ear for music that captivates audiences and other musicians alike. His unique blend of live drumming while DJing is a visual and aural treat. Catch Buzz unleashing the first selections of Psytrance for the festival on the 30th and performing his equally captivating Genre-bending set at the FROTH takeover on the 31st.

Buzz Lightyeah is a performer born from a love of playing drums, writing music and performing from a young age. A local legend in the New Zealand dance music scene - Buzz has spent years playing in various bands and developing his skills as a drummer, after experiencing his first taste of progressive trance at Alienation 2008 and he knew he had to immerse himself in electronic dance music. His unique sets that feature live drumming whilst DJing are diverse in genre, from genre-bending bass sets all the way to Hitech mixes and everything in between, his bread and butter and main focus musically being a mix of melodic, danceable progressive trance with big drum fills, delicate build ups and huge crowd pleasing drops. Having spent the last 4 years DJing at various underground parties and doofs in NZ as well as traveling to and performing at some of Australia and Asia's most renown festivals Buzz Lightyeah brings a seasoned ear to a dance floor performing an entertaining, interactive set. After his set last year at Twisted introducing the first taste of Psytrance to the party, the Twisted crew had to have him back to do the same. Expect lush melodies, big basslines, energetic live drums and captivating blends into the chunky, funky side of progressive with a range of unique, fresh sounds from this experienced and confident curator of cacophony.
